 Blueprint Artist Spotlight: KILL PARIS
Mon May 13, 2013
Kill Paris began his journey into music composition at age 16 learning how to play the guitar, which soulfully reflects in his Future Funk style and bass guitar riffs in his music today. After receiving his recording arts degree in Florida, he moved to Nashville, TN, the heart of Rock/Country in the U.S. and produced for and performed with several Country music bands/singers. But it was his attraction to electronic music composition that led him into the heart of Los Angeles, California where he currently resides today.

The small seaport town of Mystic, Connecticut, has been the home of Audien (AKA Nate Rathbun) for his entire life, and it's in a small apartment in Mystic where Audien began creating music in 2008. Using a very basic set up, and a secret cocktail of plug-ins, Audien worked diligently to hone his craft. By age 17, while his friends were either preparing college applications or teeing up jobs, Audien began to test the waters by sending his unsolicited music out to producers, labels & bloggers.

 NOISEY: SHLOHMO DIDIT
Wed Feb 27, 2013
"We live in a complicated time for independent music. It seems as though there are hundreds of pseudo-indie labels buying and selling artists based on their subcultural worth like some sort of weird musical stock market. The WEDIDITÊCollective may be able to offer up some sort of answer to this system. WEDIDIT is a group of friends based in LA headed up by Noisey favorite Shlohmo and they are making some of the best electronic music to come out of the United States at the moment. I talked to the man himself to get to the bottom of how WEDIDITÊcame to be.

JAMES MURPHY & PAT MAHONEY of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM HAVE A CONVERSATION
Tue Feb 19, 2013
Pat: My father is an economist and my mom's an actuary at an insurance company. We did have music in the house all the time, like folk and for some reason reggae which was kind of weird for a white suburban family, and plenty of rock music. I always wanted to play the drums but my parents made me play the saxophone which I hated. They told me that there'd be 15 drummers in the band and only one saxophonist and there was like 25 saxophonists and 1 drummer. No one wants to have drums in their house. When I was 13 I heard the Violent Femmes and was sold. I remember riding a bus with this kid and he was like I like hardcore and I like punk what do you like, and I said I like Violent Femmes and he just rolled his eyes. But he was Scotty Cum Stain from a fine local punk ensemble.

ARITZIA's "This is The Remix": CYRIL HAHN
Tue Feb 12, 2013

But in July, The xx linked his broody yet buoyant mix of Destiny's Child's ÒSay My NameÓ on their one-million-strong Facebook fan page, and nothing's been the same since."
